Woke up a bit "tired" this morning - not sure why????
Anyway after a slow start and another hearty breakfast, it was time to return the car and see the last sites of Dublin City.
I was happy to return the car in one piece - after covering over 1700 kilometres over the last 8 days, covering some interesting places and tight street corners as well as country roads, it was a relief to get the car back! We just had to play Galway Girl one last time and it must have been a funny site, as Nadeen and I were playing the song as loud as we could and singing and bopping at the same time. The car was rocking!!!!
We then walked back to our hotel, where they were obliging enough to hold our luggage for the remainder of the day until we needed to catch a cab to the airport.
A quick shopping spree - and despite a "maxed" out credit card, we were able to purchase a couple more things to take home with us - for me the highlight was visiting the Sein Feinn shop and purchasing another T Shirt - this one is "slightly" controversial.....
As we were both feeling a bit "tired" we stopped and had a serve of fish and chips - again one of Peter's recommendations - and it did the job - nothing like a greasy serve of fish and chips to get you started!! Clearly it did the job as straight after, we hit the local pub to have our last couple of Guinness's before catching a cab to the airport.
Our cab driver was a very interesting person - it turns out that both his grandfather and his grandfather's brother were involved on opposing sides during the "troubled times". His grandfather was a member of the IRA whilst his grandfather's brother was a member of the Irish Free State Army - this basically meant brother fighting against brother - as you can see, the troubles run deep over here and it will be years before it is resolved - if at all......
Anyway, we arrived at the airport, checked in without any difficulties and were able to check our bags all the way to Melbourne - which is great, because this means that we do not have to worry about our luggage in Manchester or Dubai.
Our flight left on time and after having a couple of Guinness's at the airport we were on a plane and leaving Ireland.
