Siem Reap is a small town right by Angkor Wat, pretty much everyone that comes here spends all their time at Pub Street (somewhat obviously named) and the night market. Luckily my hostel is right by both. I meet the 2 English Steves in the hostel, along with 2 English girls Katie and Jen. We all head out for a dinner and to the Angkor What? pub. By 3 am we eventually stop drinking and return to the hostel then at 4:30am me and the Steves head out in a tuk tuk to see sunrise at Angkor Wat. It was a disappointing sunrise, spoilt by clouds and then followed by a very weary trek around the various temples. By 10am we are falling asleep and heading back to bed. It was great to see the temples, they are very impressive but I think I have definitely seen enough temples on this trip to last me a lifetime!
The next day after plenty of sleep, I head off with Grasshopper Adventures on a countryside bicycle tour with 2 Americans Erik and Nick, and our guide Sam. I thought great, Cambodia is flat, this is going to be so easy and a nice little ride around the villages. Well it was a lovely ride but it soon got really hot and a lot of the track was sand which it turns out is very hard work to cycle through. By lunch time the 25km ride was finished and we were exhausted! I am so glad I did it though as I love getting outside the towns and really seeing what the country is like and how the people are living.
