Smarties travels
pai is a trap!! i arrived here from chiang mai and only intended to stay a couple of days but i found out how easy it is to fall into the pai trap. when i arrived here i wonderd what everone was raving about, ok the surroundings are pretty stunning but there is not much to the little town of pai. after riding around on a bike for 10 minutes you've pretty much seen the town. there's a few shops, a market and a load of guesthouses and resturants/bars. it took me a day to fall in love with this place. even though there isn't much to do here, it's a great place to nothing. i hired a motor bike for about a week and drove around the place. all around pai is stunning. mountains, rivers and cool little villages everywhere, but after the floods that they had here a couple of weeks ago there is still quite alot of mud and rocks everywhere. parts just out side pai look like they hade a rough time with the floods, you wouldn't belive the size of some of the boulders that the floods moved, it would have scared the s*** out of me if i was here for that. the best part about this place is the night life. it's pretty chilled out and everyone is just enjoying thereselves drinking till the cows come home. i met up with a guy that i met in chiang mai, ben, and we've been going out pretty much ever night and drinking ourselves silly, that's how i got the huge bandage on the toe, fell over drunk and took a good deal of skin off the side of the toe. idiot! i've got to get out of here or else i'll stay here doing nothing forever, so i've booked a bus out of here for tomorrow back to chiang mai so i can do a visa run. i can't believe i've been back in thailand for a month now. i'm going to stay in chiang mai a couple of days because i don't want to spend my birthday on a bus and then it's off down south to the islands. cheers all, speak to you soon. christopher
