Smarties travels
Hello people,
shanghai is just huge buildings everywhere! it was a really nice place to stay for a few days but anymore than what i spent there i think you could get board, 4 days is enough.
the first day i just wondered about the city, checking out the streets and see what was on offer there. in amungst all the huge buildings i managed to bump into yuyuan park which was pretty cool, and then i went to see the light of the bund in the evening which looked fantastic. i didn't go out much due to the fact that in my dorm room there were 3 japanese guys who could hardly speak any english and a 75 year old spanish guy who liked to fart alot and to show himself after having a shower, and let me tell you it's never nice to see a 75 year old penis let alone just before going out for dinner!!
the next day i went to the people's square, on arriving at the square i read the rules of the park and i have a funny feeling that they didn't quite get the right translation for their sign, the sign read:-
VISITORS ARE EXPECTED NOT TO URINATE OR s***.
not quite what they wanted i think but it gets the point across. after the park i visited the history museum.
the next day i went to pudong which was across the river and to get there i took the tourist tunnel which was crap! there were lights just flashing all around which just made me feel sick and this bloody annoying voice trying to give meaning to each set of lights. rubbish!! and then i was in pudong which is a huge business area with huge buildings everywhere (much the same as the bund) so i just started to wonder about and after about 2 hours i realised i was really very lost. taking a short cut back to the tourist tunnel took me 4 hours (twice as long as it would have taken me if i just walked back the way i came), but i did see alot of the city which was cool. and then in the evening i watched arsenal beat man u for the f.a cup.
well, next stop hong kong!
speak to you all soon. christopher.
