Chloe´s round the world adventure!
After Phnomh Penh we headed down to the South Coast to a place called Sihanoukville as we had read and heard that that the coastline and beaches there were amazing. Unfortunately we were out of season so the beach didn't look that nice and the sea was really choppy and looked a dirty brown colour so it was quite disappointing. We also wanted to do a boat trip out to Bamboo Island which is supposedly like paradise but the boats weren't running as the sea was so bad.
The best thing we did in Sihanoukville was visit a place called the Starfish Bakery which was (surprisingly) a bakery that had been set up to fund and support an initiative called the Starfish Project which is run to support local disadvantaged Cambodians. The bakery was an oasis of calm in the busy town centre and we fell in love as soon as we arrived! The food was amazing and we totally over ordered but we didn't mind as it was guilt free spending as the money was going to a good cause! Charlotte and Becky had massages but there were only 2 masseurs so I browsed the shop which sold clothing and crafts made by the people the project were supporting and I bought a t-shirt to help spread the word! The other good thing in Sihanoukville was the market…we had been to the markets in Phnomh Penh and we got hassled so much by the stall holders 'hey lady you want to buy one more from me'…at this market no-one shouted us over or tried to get us to buy anything, we were free to browse at our leisure which was nice!
