After the jungle me, Charlotte and Becky headed to Copacabana at Lake Titicaca to then get a boat accross to the Isla del Sol which is an island in the Southern part of the lake. It was a relatively short bus journey and took about 3 hours to get there from La Paz, with a short ferry ride accross the lake. We met Siobhan and Peter on the bus who are a couple who were staying in the same hostel as us in La Paz.
Once we got to Copacabana we had about an hour to have a look around before we caught a boat to the island which took 3 hours. When we got to the island we had to walk up a massive hill to find a hostel to stay in. Because of the altitude we really struggled with the uphill climb and it made us feel about 80! We finally found the place we were looking for which was recommended by the boys and after checking in we went to find somewhere to get food. There wasnt much choice where we were so we decided to head back down the hill to a Pizzeria we had seen on the way up (even though we`d all said we wouldnt go back down that hill until it was time to leave as it was such a killer getting up!). Well, I dont think this "pizzeria" had ever seen a pizza in its life!! It was more like stale bread with minimum toppings of cheese and tomato! Oh well, we were on an island so what can you expect?!
We had a wander back up to the hostel and we didnt see another person in sight! We finally bumped in to a girl who said that most people just visited the island for the day and went back to Copacabana so the 5 of us ended up in our room listening to Christmas songs on Peters ipod and playing cards all night!
So it was a bit of a weird/short trip but it was worth doing as the scenery was stunning and the lake is the highest in the world and also the biggest in South America.
