After the salt flats tour we were dropped off at San Pedro in Chile where we were going to stay for a night and then get a bus to Mendoza in Argentina for some wine tasting. San Pedro is a really cute colonial town and it was nice to be in civilisation after Bolivia and the salt flats/desert! We ended up in a really cute hostel with the best bathrooms we`d been in the whole of South America! When you come from Bolivia where the toilets are disgusting and sometimes just holes in the floor its funny how your excited by a bathroom with a bath and what feels like home!!
The boys were on a bit of a downer as they realised they were running out of money so we decided we`d treat them to a bit of home cooking so got ingredients for a vegetable pasta and some beer and wine and spent the evening in!
Turns out there isnt a direct bus to Mendoza so we ended up getting a bus to Santiago and stayed there for a night before getting the bus to Mendoza. After checking in with the bank of mum and dad the boys decided to return the favour and cook for us as the hostel had an outside roof terrace complete with BBQ and theres nothing the Aussies do better than a BBQ....it was awesome, thanks boys!! We met an Australian girl at the hostel who introduced us to a new card game called Jungle something or other so we drank rum and strawberry cocktails, beer and wine and also played ring of fire!
It was really sad to leave the boys the next day as we´d been travelling with them since La Paz so it was an emotional goodbye and a bus to Mendoza!
