The time had finally come to say goodbye to Perth and hit Cairns!!! A fabby lady from work gave me a life to the airport for the flight at 00.05!!! Great times!!! After struggling with my case, which yet again was overweight and I was charged for!!!!! we made our way to the departure lounge, stuffed our faces and finally it was time to get on the flight. It was about 4 hours from Perth to Melbourne then we had a 4 hour wait there before our 3 hour flight to Cainrs, which was delayed!!! I actually slept on both flights and even managed to get a kip in the airport, can you believe it. Getting into the traveller thing straight away!!!!

We arrived in Cairns at about midday and headed in a shuttle bus to the hostel - Gilligans. Much to my surprise it was actually quite nice, my hostel phobia was now a bit better hahaha. We headed to the pool for a pool party and bbq, although we didnt last very long!! Had a chilled night, went for a walk and had a swim in the lagoon.

The following day - Monday we headed on a trip to Kuranda, we had been advised to do the Kuranda Railway!!!! We headed to the Sky Rail where we travelled by Cable Car up mountains and over the rainforest to Kuranda, had a few hours there looking around the markets etc and then we headed back down by train. There was lots of fab views along the way - hence the pictures haha, was a bit snap happy!!!!!! The weather heres mad its so hot, sticky and humid and its really tiring!! So an early night tonight. We have booked a campervan for the next two weeks, so we are heading north then working our way eventually down to Brisbane, can you imagine me with no loo, hot water or electricity!!!!!!! Im so proud of myself!! I am offically a traveller haha. Even made food in the hostel tonight im doing so well!!!! Sharing a tea towel that has been used to clean dishes, wipe down the bunkers, wipe sweat from someones face and oh not forgetting wipe something that was spilt on the floor by others ahhhhhhhh!!! Loving this whose backpacker thing haha. Will update again when we have done Cape Tribulation, Tablelands and Port Douglas, our next stops!!!!
