Day 2 was rodeo day at the stampede. How bloody awesome it was too. Everything that so see at home but the cream of the crops participating. It is an invitational event. We saw bare back and saddle bronc, bull ride, barrel racing, calf roping, steer ride for the juniors. All great to witness. Getting to the end of the competition, so every point counts. Big band entertainment for intermission. Every thing on a huge scale.
Volunteers are the key to the success of the event. They are every where, and when you think you need a hand with directions, there they are ready to help. Young University students on their summer holidays. They all tell you they plan to come to Australia when they can.
I have determined that cowboy boots can be worn with anything. Shorts, skirts, jeans, dresses, some people look beautiful while others should have checked again in the mirror before leaving home! That said, it all adds to the atmosphere of the event. The little kids in boots and hats are just gorgeous. We managed to buy "Hell or High Water" t shirts which has become the catch phrase for this year because of the flooding and determination of organizers to see the event go ahead. The money raised from these shirts will aid flood relief. So we have done our bit for the local economy. T shirts and hundreds of drinks have kept someone in a job I hope.
