Well what a day. Calgary certainly knows how to put on a show. Beautiful grounds and amenities. It is like the largest agricultural show you have ever seen. First job was to purchase the obligatory hat so we looked like the locals. Wandering around what we would call the pavilion was amazing, everything for sale from knives, leather, hats souvenirs. Raffles being run for harley bikes, 5th wheelers, gmc trucks, even a house! All of these prizes are on display, yes, you can even look at the house on site. We visited the local indian village for an interesting tour with a local guide. He told us the stories behind the teepee and their different paintings. Watched the ladies cutting and smoking meat. Photos taken with Canadian Mounties in there stunning red uniforms, only used for show these days, but still very cool to see.
Caught up with Barry and Heather Little and Teagan Hartwig , all from Jandowae for a drink before heading to the evening show.
Wow, I can't describe how great it was. Chuck wagon races started the evening, watched 9 heats in total. Fast paced and exciting to wat h. The entertainment was performed by the young canadians. Acrobats, dancers, singers, and even Kiss. Yes, Kiss. Not very country music like, but the audience loved it all. A huge fire works display finished the evening. Home at around 12.30 am......huge but fantastic day.
