It is named after Banffshire, Scotland, the birthplace of two of the original directors of the Canadian Pacific Railway. It is the highest town in Canada, at 1383 metres. We boarded the Rocky Mountaineer from Kamloops and enjoyed the spectacular views on a thankfully sunny day. I can't describe how beautiful the Rockies are. Snow still visible on the peaks and flowing water everywhere thanks to the recent flooding but also summer. We could stay on the train only until reaching a little town called Golden. It was here we transferred to coach to complete the journey to Banff due to damaged rail tracks. Took 2 hours to reach Banff, ...
