Tuesday - first day in Tokyo although we did have a wander around last night after we had booked in to the hotel. Today we are booked on the full day tour of Toyko city.
First breakfast - this was at Wendy's with small hash browns, a fresh bread roll containing lettuce and ham and coffee.
Met the tour company at a different hotel and transported to change buses for the particular tour. We went to the bus we were told to go to and got settled and when the tour operator came to check us off her list she found we were on the wrong bus! She showed us which bus to go to and when we got there people were running around in circles looking for Cheryl. Settled again and off we travel to a Shrine, get out of the bus and the heavens opened, my trousers were saturated through, everyone was wet. We walked part of the way in the rain and decided to flag the idea and not see the shrine and went back to the bus. Next stop was the Imperial Palace, yes, it happened again we all got off the bus and down came the rain. By the time we got back on every one was in hysterics, we were all like drowned rats. Then to a shopping mall and lunch. Interesting lunch, we were told it is what the Sumo wrestlers eat twice a day, a pot of broth on a gas ring and bowls of bean sprouts, cabbage, a mushroom, a carrot, chicken skin and pieces of uncooked chicken. You had to put your choices it in to the broth when the flame was lit and stir it up until it was cooked enough to eat, a novelty to say the least. They did provide a bowl of rice and we had a beer. Next stop Tokyo Tower, fabulous views of a vast city but too much cloud to see Mt Fuji. Great shopping in the mall there, the cakes and sweet treats looked amazing, next stop to get a ferry for a ride across Tokyo Bay and back to the hotel. We got in at 6.00pm, decided to eat at our hotel, very expensive for what we got. In fact it was difficult to decide what to choose so it was steak strips, no extras.
The main concern of the day was the rain because for the first time I have my voice back and don't need that virus returning. The second concern was I couldn't find my camera to download the photos - John found it, I had dropped it almost under my bed, drama over.
Look around the shops in the morning and we are picked up here at the hotel at 12-45 to go to the ship. A typhoon is looming the TV says .......
I don't know how the internet will go once I get on board, I am going to use a Vodafone roaming pack on my phone and hot point it to the iPad.
