We went from our fave place (hoi an) to our least fave so far- Nha Trang. After the super fun 13 hour night bus (not fun at all) we were able to check into our hotel early, had a nap then went out and about. Nha Trang is a beach side town, I'm sure it would have been really nice in previous years, but now it's full of fat, sunburnt tourists and not really like being in Vietnam. Apparently in the last 12 months they have made 3 daily flights direct from Russia, so there are thousands of russians everywhere! There are heaps of resorts and restaurants, it's really hard to find a Vietnamese one! The beach is nice but unfortunately there is lots of rubbish in the water. There is an island called vin pearl you can get a cable at across to, there is a theme park there. We didn't end up doing this. Don't get me wrong it's still a nice place to visit, just not as nice as others!! We went for a walk through town, watched some of the demons game (they got smashed) booked a 2 day motorbike trip to Da Lat with a company called easy rider (there are heaps of them, motor bike riders who speak English and offer you trips to 'the real Vietnam') a nice way to travel and see the sights! We then had a swim at the beach and headed to some mud baths. The mud bath was fun, you literally sit in a tub of mud (they have it just running through pipes to turn on and of to fill up tubs!) for half an hour, then get out and let it dry for a bit then wash it off in a series of mineral water showers. You then soak in a hot mineral water tub, then can go swimming in 2 different pools of varying warm temperatures and again filled with natural spring/mineral water. We went at the end of the day, I'm glad we did because it was fairly quiet and a lot cooler. That night we ate at a cool place called the lil shack (there is a bigger one on a beach farther away, we didn't get to go but heard it was amazing) and had awesome burritos. I was pretty ecstatic to find some Cadbury chocolate that night at a supermarket as it was Easter Sunday.
The next day we hired bikes and went for a ride to a big Buddha, a fishing village and some temples. Was alright but so hot was hard to enjoy! The traffic was so chaotic, made bike riding quite a challenge, I still don't understand the roundabouts!! We then went to Louisiana brew house, a restaurant on the beach, they have a pool and deck chairs on the beach. We grabbed some if the sunbeds on the beach and stayed there for a few hours having beers and swimming in the pool and ocean. Very nice! That night we are at a restaurant called lanterns, fantastic! Yummy Vietnamese food and really great staff, highly recommended. Then went and got a pedicure and Chris got a massage- the lady walked on his back!!
The next day we did a snorkelling tour to hon mun island.
Was good fun and great snorkelling, saw lots of different species of fish including clown fish, lion fish, angel fish and some amazing big blue starfish. I think we are a bit ruined though from the Red Sea in Egypt, nothing seems quite as spectacular as the snorkelling there! Had lots of nice ppl on our boat, some Canadians, Australians, Germans and French. Overall a pretty good day for $15, went to 3 different snorkelling spots and included lunch and the equipment. That night we decided we felt like western food (we have hardly had any so far) so went to a pasta place. Big mistake, took over 1.5 hours to get our food and it was terrible! Should have gone back to lanterns!
The next morning we got up early and got ready for our 2 day motorbike ride. My butt was sunburnt from snorkelling so a bit worried about sitting on a motorbike for 2 days!!!!!!
