We organised a flight over the nazca lines via email with a company called alas peruanas. The Nazca lines are ancient symbols and pictures hundreds of metres long which were made into the ground hundreds of years ago. No one knows why they are there, astronomy? Pointing to water sources? I'm writing this blog from the top of a sand dune overlooking the town of haucachina at sunset. This place is beautiful! It's an oasis in the desert surrounded by sand dunes. There isn't much here, just a few hotels and restaurants and lots of companies offering sand boarding and dune buggies. We had 2 nights here, got the bus from paracas here. We got the cruz del sol bus to paracas (thanks for the recommendation courts!) it was a luxury bus with reclining seats, lots of space and even wifi! Was a 3 hour trip so not too bad. Arrived to paracas, a tiny station and booked on a national park tour for half an hours time. The tour cost 35soles each, we got a mini van and a great tour guide. We had a good flight to Lima and got off to freezing cold weather! A big change from the UK and New York! The taxi took ages, traffic was manic even at 8.30 at night!
