We organised a flight over the nazca lines via email with a company called alas peruanas. The Nazca lines are ancient symbols and pictures hundreds of metres long which were made into the ground hundreds of years ago. No one knows why they are there, astronomy? Pointing to water sources? For the gods? We were looking forward to seeing for ourselves. It's tricky to book the flights, u get ripped off if u go thru an agency, ppl advise to just go to the airport and book one but if the planes don't fly due to wind etc u are last on the list! We ummed and ahhed what to do but ended up booking one via email with this company, it also meant they would get us from the bus station and look after our luggage etc. it all worked out really well! I had enough time to get some airsickness meds from the pharmacy then we went to the airport and were flying within about half an hour. We were shocked to see we were on a 4 seater plane.. And 2 of the seats were for the pilot and co pilot! The flight took about 30 mins and was spectacular. We spotted all of the different shapes, the copilot was helpful in pointing them out. I managed to keep down my breakfast somehow, but the plane would dip and turn so much to make sure we both got a good view, I was queasy to say the least and thankful for the meds I took!!! It Was really spectacular though and really did make u wonder how they were made (and with limited aerial views back then!) and what they were for. My favourite was the alien, also called owl man. It was also pretty cool to have a ride in a plane that small and a private flight! After the flight we walked around town for a bit, had some lunch. I then fell asleep for a couple hours, the airsickness tablets were drowsy ones! We then got the night bus to Arequipa, I managed to sleep pretty well due to the drowsy tablets!
