4th day of the tour began with a stop at Adelaide river Pub for breakfast and a look at a 17ft stuffed croc and the buffalo from Crocodile Dundee. Up next was Pine Creek an old town which has a large Chinese community. Then Katherine Gorge where we went swimming before a 2hour cruise tour of the 2 gorges. The scenery was amazing and we heard some fantastic Aboriginal stories about the rainbow serpent. After the cruise we had another swim then made our way to camp. Myself and 4 of the girls slept outside under the stars in our swags.
Day 5 began with a 4:30 get up for a trip to Mataranka thermal pools, also known as never never. Soldiers discovered bubbles coming out of the ground and decided to dig, finding hot water. the surrounding trees are full of flying foxes and hey close the pool at 8am to drive the animals away. Getting back onto the Stuart Highway we made a stop at Daly Rivers Pub, one of the oldest pubs in Australia. It is full of foriegn coins & notes, bras, flip flops and licence plates stuck to the walls and ceiling. We had a few more stops along the way including Attck Creek and to collect firewood during sunset. The whole group slept outside in swags around the fire under the stars.
We got to sleep in till 6:30 today! Made a quick petrol stop before heading to The Devils Marbles. These were my favourite stop of the tour. We all had loads of fun climbing the rocks and taking some funny pictures. Next stop was the ufo town, they have the most sightings in OZ. We also stopped at the tropic of Capricorn and Barrow Creek Telegraph station along the way. When we got to Alice Springs we showered and made our way to Bojangles for a group dinner. We tried Kangeroo, buffalo, crocodile and camel. Crocodile was terrible, it taste like crap processed chicken!
