We took four cars to an upmarket hotel for a tasty 'American Style' buffet breakfast then hoped back in the cars for a 2.5hr car journey to the ganges river. One of the cars broke down and luckily for them we were just behind them so they all crammed with their luggage into our already crowded car! What a picture!

We arrived at the river and the boats were really nice. They had a large sheet on the top for shade and blankets and cushions so it was dead comfy! We had four in each boat plus our 2 rowers and it looked like such hard work! We sailed for hours, it was so peaceful and quite. The water was owever absolutely filthy! We saw lots of poo floating past and even to ou horror a half cremated body. Aussie Pete was really ill and found out that he could transfer early to the next hotel and skip the camping on the riverside (it had a hole for a toilet!!!!) As my stomach still wasn't at its best, myself, Brad and another guy Richard jumped at the chance of an aircon room with bathroom! At about 7o'clock a car colleted for the 90min craziest car rise ever to take us to Hotel Haifa in Varanassi. We came so close to head on collisions as the locals were on the wrong side of the central reserve! Bloody maniacs! It didn't help that our cabbie spoke no English and had to keep stopping to ask for directions! Happy to be alive and in a nice hotel we grabbed a pizza, showered and had an early night. The rest of the group will be up at 5 tomorrow and won't reach the hotel untill around 2pm so we acn lie in! WOO HOO!!
