Today we left the hotel at 6am for our train from delhi to Agra, home to the?majestic Taj Mahal. We?dropped our bags off at our hotel, Sheela Inn, then drove to the Red Fort. It was amazing with such interesting stories and architecture. We had an extra guide for this, he knew absolutely everything about the fort and the Taj Mahal. It is sad however that the original furniture, carpets and curtains etc are no longer there as they?were looted by the British when they seized the fort. It was constucted by Shah Jahan (the creator of the Taj Mahal) and later became his prison after his 3rd son seized power (he also killed his 3 brothers to insure he became King!)
We then went for a bite but Chelsea was extremely sick and didnt eat anything, we then visited a carpet factory but Chelsea didnt see it as she was allowed to lay down in there sleeping quarters for a rest! Some of the group members purchased the carpets. Bradley was very impressed with what he saw, its government owned and he saw some making the carpets. A 10f x 6f carpet can take 3 people up to 6 months to make!!
We then went to the Taj Mahal. Words or pictures cannot really describe the immense beauty of this great wonder. You will have to come here and see for yourself. Bradley walked right around it taking snaps whilst Chelsea took shade in the gardens and admired it from afar!
Got back to the hotel where Chelsea had just kicked off but drew 0-0 away at Newcastle - gutted!! Almost ruined my day lol!!
