Small trail done, today was time for the bigger trail. I started earlier and walked down to the Scenic Railway, past the little information point there and walked west away from Katoomba. It took me about 2 and a half hours to get to the Ruined Castle. It was a great walk! The weather was much better than yesterday and the wind kept me cool. The path was much more technical than the previous one and therefore much less touristy which meant it was really peaceful. Pictures were fantastic, and the variation of scenery was amazing. I was walking through so many different settings, from dense rainforest, to wide canyons and lush green bush. It felt like something out of the movies. In full HD Bluray - all I needed now was to be a few feet taller, have blue skin and a tail!
As I got closer to the Ruined Castle I thought to myself, what the hell is a castle doing 100+ Miles away from the coast or a boarder. And then it clicked as I approached! It wasn't a ruined castle, it was a big rock that looked a tiny bit like one, but only if you squint....and then you may as well just close your eyes and picture a castle. The rocks were pretty cool none the less, and I did a bit of climbing and got some really worth while views.
I then got back on the trail back to Katoomba and had to overcome the dreaded steps once again! I showered reheated my rice and then got sorted ready for heading back to Sydney and then my overnight bus to Byron Bay.
