So today was a waiting game. I had to check out of my room at 10 as always and needed to catch the 4:16pm train from Katoomba to Sydney. So lots of time to kill.
I just chilled in the hostel most of the day, did a bit of shopping for my journey this evening but just ate and listened to music in the sun.
I hopped on the train back to Sydney and then waited for my bus to Byron Bay. I was originally planning on going to Coffs Harbour on the way, but I was told its not worth it so decided to skip it and go straight to Byron. This meant I would get there earlier which was a bonus.
Getting on the bus, there was a girl balling her eyes out as she stepped on! It could have been because she had a 13 hour bus journey ahead of her, but as she had friends waving and crying outside, I figured it was that instead. But even I was feeling a bit emotional about the night ahead - Memories of 'the bus from hell' in Mexico were rushing through my mind. For those of you who don't know, 'the bus from hell' was a 12 hour overnight bus on the winding roads of south Mexico, which was 30 degrees inside as the air con was broken. To make it worse a trip to the toilet ended sickeningly badly, but I won't share that with you as I refuse to relive it again - plus you might be reading this as you eat your food.
So I'm only an hour in as I wright this, looking out the window I can see nothing but darkness and the odd car passing.
Hope I don't have to use the facilities, but I've only just finished a coffee and I can't see me holding for 12 hours...
