Changing at muscat was easy! I even had time to share a costa coffee with my new, now sober friend! I was 1 of approximately 5 westerners (now friendless) on this 200 person flight and the rest were Nepalese!! This was daunting at first but apart from their vast amounts of luggage slowing us down the flight went smoothly.
The airport was slightly different to the ones I'm used to! Security consisted of a man sitting by the x-ray machine and a consistently beeping metal detector that people were being ushered through! The man didn't stop anyone! Once I finally found my suitcase that was initially thought to be lost I walked outside and found my taxi waiting for me! I got mobbed by all these drivers who wanted to take me and ended up having to give away an unearned tip and was a bit overwhelmed!
Kathmandu however was exactly how I imagined it but bigger, busier and crazier! My taxi driver's, along with everyone else's motto seamed to be "beep then break" as if to warn the person in front move or I'll ending up bumping you!!
After what felt like a 20min rally-style dash to the hotel I unpacked a few comforts and sorted myself out with some drinking water and a map ready for the next day!
God this blogging thing is taking it out of me- shorter blogs to follow! :D
