Week 7- Thailand (Koh Phangan) Day 6
We had a cheeky lay in today didn't get up until after midday! We had brunch and headed to Salad Beach which we had heard good things about. The beach didn't disappoint, it was very quiet had clear blue seas and good sand! It was super hot but trying to find shade was a bit difficult but we all managed to cram under a tree. The sea was like a bath, we are yet to find a sea that actually cools us down. We had to walk out for ages before it started to cool down!
We all had a hour oil massage on the beach which cost about £6 each, was heavenly! Didn't realise how many knots we had in our bodies, the life of a backpacker ay! We decided go have a few cocktails in one if the bars before having dinner as the sunset. I found a wooden swing outside the bar so I played on that whilst Char and Brad enjoyed their cocktails, although I did get Brad to give me a push or two! Char fancied a BBQ so we found a nice restaurant on the beach with a BBQ, we ordered a feast to share! We had spring rolls, masaman curry, Phangan curry, rice and Brad went wild and ordered a whole BBQ'd red snapper fish, it was delicious.
Just as dinner arrived it began to get very windy and there were a few strikes of lightning, little did we know a storm was about to happen. Before we knew it all the waiters were rushing around getting everyone's food inside and putting down the covers on the restaurant. Just as we got into the restaurant the heavens opened. We eventually found our table with some of our food on, typical Thailand no one tells you what's going on. Some of our food was missing including my dinner that I was really enjoying as the food was very nice :(. I don't think we have ever seen so much rain, it was hammering it down. The lightening was quite cool though as it kept lighting up the whole sea. It was quite spectacular to watch from the dry. We ordered bananas in warm coconut milk to try and warm ourselves up as we were getting a little wet! When we left it was still raining luckily the man from the restaurant took us home and we didn't have to get in the back of a truck. Always amazes me how it can be super hot and sunny one minute and then lightening and rain the next.
