Week 7- Thailand (Koh Samui) Day 7
We left Koh Phangan to go back to Koh Samui today. We were really excited for Samui as Gemma's mum had said it was one of her favourite Islands when she was in Thailand. We had booked the morning boat at 9am, so we were up early to get ready and have some breakfast. Maffo picked us up in a truck and we headed to the port, the boat didn't take long at all only about 20 minutes.
We got a tuk tuk straight to our hotel once we arrived on Koh Samui, dropping Maffo off in the centre en route. The hotel was really nice and very quiet, we hardly saw any other guests. This meant we had the pool to ourselves which was a bonus. Once we had checked in we chilled out by the pool and ordered some food and drinks. Brad managed to fall into the jacuzzi style pool by accident which was highly entertaining for myself and Gemma. His head just appeared above the water about 30 seconds after and I turned around to see Gem crying in laughter.
We all had a little afternoon nap on the sun beds, although, the wind started to pick up and we all know what that means... Thunderstorms! So we didn't chance it and packed up our stuff and sat inside. Within about 5 minutes it was pouring with rain, the staff were running around closing the shutters yet Brad decided to jump in the pool, such a kid!
The rain didn't seem to look like it was stopping so we headed up to our rooms for a bit and then got ready for dinner. We walked into town and wondered down the Main Street. It was very pretty and had lots of restaurants and bars. Some of the restaurants had amazing looking fresh seafood outside which they BBQed so we decided to go into a restaurant called Sydney's. Myself and Brad shared a set meal for 2 which included blue crab, king prawns, shark steak and oysters. It was incredible, particularly the shark steak! Gemma had been craving spaghetti bolognese since we went travelling (even though she never really liked it at home) so she tucked into that!
Afterwards we walked back to the hotel but obviously stopped off for a few cocktails. Each night Gemma has been choosing Brad a surprise cocktail for him to drink- often including dirty spirits like tequila! We went to a place called the Loft which has 241 cocktails, although, it was ending soon so we ordered lots at once instead :-) The bar overlooked the street and had big comfy pillows to sit on so we chilled out for a while. We even Facetimed Emma Harman while she was doing her weekly shop! So after a lovely relaxed evening we strolled back to our hotel and headed to bed!
