Week 7- Thailand (Koh Phangan) Day 4
Today we had yet another relaxing morning by the pool.. It's a hard life travelling! The sun was beaming and it was a beautiful day! It's nice to know we have a few days here so we can settle a little bit. Obviously both mine and Brad's bags have made an explosion across the room- organised mess as I like to call it.
We had organised to meet Maffo at the beach in the afternoon so we managed to find a truck cab which took us to Haad Rin. We were meeting Maffo at his hostel, this was a bit of a task in itself because they driver just dropped us in the middle of the town so we aimlessly walked around until we found it! We chilled out in his hostel for a bit then headed down to the beach. En route down we decided to stop for some lunch we went to cafe which sold massive sandwiches, we were so full afterwards. Bradley being the Hoover he is even managed to finish the rest of the Gemma's! Surprisingly the beach was a lot nicer than I was expecting, we thought it might have been ruined a bit by the full moon parties.
We chilled out under a tree while Maffo was being his usual self winding us up particularly Gemma! One of his friends from his hostel -Cam (yes he has actually made friends) came to the beach with us as well. Somehow Maffo managed to become best friends with a 3 year old Asian child that absolutely loved him. The little boy spent a good hour pretending to shoot Maffo down with his super powers while Maffo fell to the floor. He also used Maffo as a pony for rides up and down the beach and jumped all over him. It was very entertaining to watch the little boy was laughing so much. By the end Maffo and Brad picked him up and pretended to throw him in the sea, as you can imagine there was a lot of people on the beach watching, the Asians were even taking photos (standard).
Afterwards we were speaking to his dad Charlie who owned one of the shacks on the beach selling buckets. The little boy was called Piar and his mum had just given birth to a set of twins which they were waiting to be transported over to the island so they were very excited. To cool down (and get all the sand off that Piar had thrown at us) we went into the sea, it was so clear. When we got out we could all feel little stings on our skin, god knows what was in the water!
We then headed back to our hotel to get ready for the evening, we had decided to go out to the pre full moon party which was called the jungle experience. So back at the hotel we had a shower to freshen up and got changed then headed straight back to Maffo's hostel. He was staying in a party hostel! We went down the road to a Mexican restaurant for dinner which was really yummy then walked back up to the hostel to start drinking. We ordered a couple of mojito buckets, they were really nice but vey strong. There were loads of people outside the hostel and they had a DJ on the street which was really cool. We found of UV paints on the side so decided to paint ourselves up, I ended doing loads of people's faces!
Around midnight we all scrambled into trucks to get to the jungle experience. There we so many people in the truck we were in, a few were even hanging off the back! The jungle experience was really cool, it was set in the middle of the forest and had a festival feel to it, although it was obviously a lot smaller. There was a fair bit going on including Thai Muay boxing, lots of fire dancing which was actually rather scary (they dropped a fire stick which went flying towards the crowd) and also a huge dance area with a DJ. We stayed there until about 3am then headed back to bed.
