Week 7- Thailand (Koh Phangan) Day 5
IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!! So today we had a lay in as we had been out late the night before. Me and Brad woke up still covered in colourful paint from the party. I had my cards and presents from my family, which was lovely although it made me miss home a bit! We headed down for breakfast, Bradley had sneaked down there earlier and put birthday princess banners around the table. I also had a big 23 candle in my chocolate and banana pancake! We ate like queens and kings this morning!
We spent the morning relaxing by the pool topping up our tans. Gemma spent lots of time in her favourite spot in the hammock and me and Brad sat in the pool trying to cool down, even though, the water temperature wasn't much cooler than the air! We planned to go to Phangan wipeout in the afternoon so Maffo (and his annoying friend Cam) got a truck to us and we jumped in and headed to the other side of the island.
We had SO much fun at the wipeout. It is basically a massive inflatable obstacle course on a lake, myself and Gemma were useless!! Firstly you had to swing on a rope from a high ledge into the water, this was scary enough in itself. There were then a range of inflatables that you had to climb over/up, a monkey bar and also giant inflatable balls that you were supposed to run across. The boys were pretty good at it and made it to the top of the inflatable mountain, whereas, myself and Gemma couldn't even pull ourselves onto the wall of the mountain so spent the whole time in the water struggling to stay afloat because we were laughing so much. The boys even tried to pull us up but still had no luck, we clearly have no upper body strength whatsoever. So us girls called it a day and sunbathed on the floating island in the middle while we laughed at the boys sliding down the obstacles and failing miserably when trying to run over the balls. I got some awesome videos of our time here! We then all headed upstairs to the bar overlooking the lake. We ordered some food (We found a new love for Massaman curry) and also had a few cocktails seeing as it was happy hour. We enjoyed the sunshine and music while watching people fly into air off a giant inflatable cushion. We then made Maffo and Brad do the same! They had to jump onto the giant cushion and crawl across to the other end, 3 men then jumped off the high ledge onto the cushion causing them to go flying metres into the sky then crashed down into the water, it looked so painful but was hilarious to watch!
We headed back in a truck back to our hostels to get ready for the full moon party. We had bought full moon tops and UV paint so we got dressed up and covered ourselves in paint (yet again). Myself, Gemma and Brad then got a truck to Maffo's hostel to meet him. We walked around the streets looking for something to eat and ended up having chicken pittas and chips (plus a few buckets of mojitos)! We then headed down to the beach for the party, we went to Charlie's bar (the man we met yesterday) and ordered some more buckets. We sat on the beach drinking our buckets, laughing at the extremely drunk/high people around us (it was only about 9pm). We enjoyed the full moon party but it didn't seem to be exactly our scene everyone was clearly off their faces on drugs from mushroom mountain. So we had a few more buckets and did a bit of dancing then headed back at about 2am. Me and Brad both managed to FaceTime home from by the pool which was rather entertaining! So all in all I had a great birthday and definitely one I won't forget.
