Week 14- Singapore Day 7
After about an hours sleep due to loud dorm mates (yet again) we were up at 4am ready to our flight to Singapore.. Our last week in Asia! We managed to force down to peanut butter on toast and a cuppa tea before heading outside to try and find a cab! There was one right outside our hostel but the man was asleep, I think we scared him when we knocked on the window. He took us to the bus station as it was too early to catch a train! We were early for the bus so waited around a bit then set off to the airport.
The flight was a bit shaky with a bumpy landing but not too horrendous! We managed to work out how to get a train to our hostel then walked... It felt like a marathon with our bags and the horrid humid heat! It took us about 15 minutes! We checked in and the hostel seemed really cool and was really busy with travellers. We couldn't go to the room yet so we decided to head out for food. We went to the hawkers market, this is a really cheap food place which sold all sorts including turtle, crocodile and black chicken! We actually ended up eating chicken in bread crumbs, chips and beans AND IT WAS SO GOOD. We walked back to the hostel and by this time we could check into our room. Our room was up 4 flights of stairs I thought I was gonna kill over by the time we got upstairs.
We decided to do a bit more exploring so we wondered down to Bugis village which is one of many shopping centres. We had a look around the shops (but was very well behaved) and then headed to the food court for dinner. We wanted dim sum but it was all a bit fancy and too expensive :-( We ended having an incredible dinner though. We went to this place where you were given a bowl and you chose all your fresh ingredients yourself and put it in the bowl (like in the veg section of Tesco) you then chose your meat and they weighed it all up to price it and cooked it up into a stir fry. Half of the stuff Gemma and I chucked in we didn't even know what it was but we thought we would give it a try. There was so much of this food we ended up getting containers to take it to the hostel for a dinner another night! They should definitely do this is England!
