Week 20- Australia (Harvey Bay) Day 5
What an incredible day. We were up early ready for our whale watching trip. Will and Faye were up before we left so we had a chat over some breakfast then headed straight out. It turns out the boat we booked with the discount yesterday was the same boat that had refused to give us a discount, so that was rather amusing. They didn't look impressed when we turned up with our 'student' tickets but there wasn't much they could do! The boat trip was amazing it was really windy out on the deck but definitely worth it. We saw quite a lot of pods of whales and also a few dolphins which were whizzing up and down the boat. The whales came really close to the boat and were chilling out on their backs, we even saw a few breaching and jumping straight out the water. It was such an incredible morning.
We then headed back to Faye and Will's house, had some lunch then we went for a walk down the pier with Faye but it was a bit cold. Faye then treated us to a hot drink in one of the bars over looking the sea. When we got back to the house we realised one of the outside pipes had broken and leaking into the garden. After a lot of investigating it turned out to be the shower!! Brad helped Will fix the pipe which involved many trips to the DIY shop as they kept buying the wrong parts! In the meantime Gemma got in the shower while me and Faye caught the dirty water in buckets and chucked it in the garden it was very entertaining and we laughed a lot. Particularly as Will had given us a bucket which used to be brewing bucket so it had a big hole in the bottom, you can imagine the chaos this caused! Finally the men came back with the right parts so it was fixed before the rest of the showers.
We took Faye and Will out for dinner at the boat club to say thank you for having us. It was a really nice evening and Gemma finally got her roast she has been wanting. Myself and Brad had a seafood basket which was amazing! After dinner we had a few drinks in the bar before heading back home. We had a very excited Gemma seeing as we get her Mum in the morning, then the adventure really begins.
