Week 20- Australia (Brisbane) Day 3
So today I was up well before my alarm went off... In pure excitement as we were going to collect Brad from the airport. I was up so early I even managed to have a quick FaceTime with Maffo. We then had breakfast and showers before checking out of the female dorm (we were staying in private rooms tonight). I was tracking Brad's flight and we saw he was due in early so we got on the earlier train to the airport.
We arrived I'm perfect time, his planned landed just as we got there! Gemma got what turned out to be an awful juice while we waited. There was a screen so you could see who was about to come through arrivals... Brad took forever! It was the worst wait ever, I was getting really fidgety and felt sick in excitement! It had been 3 months since I had seen him last! Finally he came through the arrivals 40 minutes later (never on time this boy). I was so happy to see him and very excited for the next 3 weeks with Brad and Wendy being with us.
Brad had organised for us to rent a car for a few days to go to Hervey Bay so we picked that up. It was really funny as it was a new car with sharp breaks so Brad nearly gave Gemma whiplash in the first 5 minutes! We had been upgraded to a 4x4 type car as it had built in satnav, we all loved the car!! We drove back to the hostel and had some lunch in a Drifters next door. We shared a pizza, wedges and salad it was really nice.
We then decided to make the most of the afternoon so we walked down the river and jumped on the City hopper down Brisbane river. We managed to see a few places but Brisbane is a bit of a nothing city with not much to see or do! We then walked back to the hostel and jumped back in the car and drove to Mount Coot-Tha. This is Brisbane lookout and it is certainly am incredible view. We arrived just before sunset so we saw daylight, sunset and then Brisbane in darkness. This was an amazing! We then ended up talking to so,me locals, who told us some rather unpleasant stories about road kill and animals. When we walked past them they were all looking in a tree so she asked what they were looking at, hoping it was a koala. It turned out to be a bird (Gemma's phobia) and we couldn't get away from all their stories... Last time Gemma asks a question!
We waited around as it was reported to be a super moon. After waiting a while the moon suddenly appeared out of nowhere and was HUGE and orange. It was very beautiful, I was so upset my camera battery had just died. We drove back to the hostel and cooked chilli cone carne. We then all got an early night as we have an early start tomorrow. I can't wait for the next few weeks with Brad and Wendy with us!
