Friday at Pilares
This morning we had worship and then we discussed the events of last night.Emma told us that the minister last night had been in Teresopolis in 2006 when she was there. She said that during the entire seminar in 2006 he had seemed down trodden. She had prayed for him many times and then at the close of the seminar she had the translator ask him what was burdening him.He told her his only son had been very sick for a long time. She prayed for his son to be healed and Emma had not heard from him since. This is one of the difficult things about an LISS you pray for people and you see them changed but, it is nice to see how they do in the long run. Well last night the little boy you see in all of the pictures from Rio Bonito is that son that she prayed for then. Praise God for his healing - he was a very energetic young man who was the apple of his fathers eye.I had not heard about the minister's sick son from emma but, while I was praying last night a woman came to me wanting prayer.I did not know at the time it was the minister's wife. She came to me and wanted me to pray for her unborn child. She had pointed to her tummy and wanted me to lay hands on and pray for her. I assumed she was pregnant so I laid hands on and prayed for her unborn child (I was glad to find out later that she was five months pregnant because I could not tell for sure that she was pregnant and with the communication differences I could have misunderstood her.) I pray that our prayers will be answered and their next child will be as healthy as Peter is now.
We did not have a lesson today because we needed to have supper early to leave at 5:00 for Pilares.Driving through Rio on Friday afternoon is like driving through Charlotte, NC.Sometimes you breeze through and sometimes you are stuck. We were blessed with a quick trip to the church. We arrived 45 minutes early which is nice because we get to pray over the church and everything before we start. The evening started pretty slow.First of all we started about a half an hour late (which is pretty typical in Brazil) and the church did not seem to be very full. When we did start the praise and worship music everyone talking outside finally decided to come in. There were between 200 and 300 people (again the preachers count) but, the church was full.I expect to fill the balcony here tomorrow as it is John Wesley day and the church has a lot of activities planned.
Elizabeth had a hard task this evening because the church did not seem as energetic and the others we had been to. She gave a wonderful and deep personal testimony that I believe helped to get the church out of their seats. We had a Dr Pepper (prayer tunnel) and the worship team went first and all of a sudden the pews emptied and the line went two thirds around the inside of the church of people wanting prayer. We prayed and anointed for 40 min.It was a very good time - I think that some people really felt the presence of the Holy Spirit and that everyone will be back tomorrow to see the Spirit flow freely. We hurried from the church and left because Pilares is in a rough neighborhood and we did not want to be there any later than we had to be.Well I guess I am off to bed early tonight - tomorrow starts early and we will have a long day. Please pray for strength and discernment for the entire team tomorrow as we will be gone from 7:15AM until probably 10:30 PM and we will be doing ministry most of the time. Thank you for your love ad prayers.Love, Bobby.
