We have been in Melbourne for a few days now and we are now in our 3rd hostel. It was very busy because of the Grand Prix here this weekend. The place we have just moved out of was horrible. It was like a drop in centre for the unemployed (basically us but really scummy people). It was really mucky and there were hardly any backpackers there. We haven't had much access to the internet over the last week or so but we have had a really good time and travelled from Adelaide to Melbourne. We stopped for a couple of nights in Mount Gambier where we saw the blue lake (really blue) and a sunken garden with possums in it. After that we went to Cape Bridgewater which is one of the top 10 bays in Australia. We went on a trek and saw a seal colony, even if you can't see them in the photos they were there, honest...

We had a day of winetasting yesterday which was good. We went to 4 wineries and tried a selection of whites, red and ports so we were a bit tipsy by the end of the day. The main winery we visited was Wolf Blass and the we went to 3 smaller family owned wineries. We didn't end up buying any wine because its cheaper to buy them in the bottle shops than it is at the wineries themselves. We passed through Jacods Creek but didn't visit the winery. We have just done 2 long days of fruit picking. We got picked up at 5:30am this morning and got dropped off at 7:15pm. We did 10 hours picking in the heat today, it was about 24 degrees but its hot when you are out in it all day. After picking today we got taken to the winery that we have been picking for and they gave us a tour of the winery. We saw how the grapes are crushed and then fermented and stored before being bottled. We got to taste a few at different ...

We have managed to find some work now but unfortunately it is fruit picking again at a winery. We are now picking Shiraz grapes after doing chardonnay grapes at Margaret River. I think our career prospects are moving on to Champagne or fine ports if we are lucky. We are both looking for other work but we will stick with this until we get something else.
