We survived the 20 hour train journey (it even had a proper toilet) and arrived in Shanghai this afternoon. We got talking to 2 Chinese businessmen who shared our cabin and we managed to get a bit of conversation out of them when we spoke slower and louder! Shanghai seems a lot more western than anywhere else we have been which is nice, we aren't getting stared at so much.

We had the cheapest tea so far tonight, 1.20 for both of us which consisted of some sort of meat in spicy sauce, rice, veg and a cabbage drink. Jason would have loved it! The hostel is nice, we have a bar, common room and TV room so we will hopefully meet some other backpackers here. Lou's leg is pretty bad from a mosquito bite, when she woke up this morning there was a massive puss filled blister that needed popping. Dr Hammerton has performed minor surgery and it seems to be getting better now.
