It was well worth the wait and the flight back into Thailand. Songkran on Khaosan road was better then I could have imagined. The streets were closed off and basically turned into a water fight war zone with a side of sticky flour paste smearing. I was armed with a 1.5 litre super soaker and turned back the clock, I was a kid again and loving it. I forgot how much fun they were. Hunting innocent pedestrians, waiters, police officers and showing no mercy. It never got old. Even on the second day, I was just as entertained as the first time I fired into the crowd. I stayed on Khaosan road, the centre of chaos that usually goes on in Bangkok in a hotel with a roof top pool, with a friend that I was staying with in Bangkok the previous week and two of his friends who flew in for the festivities. Surrounded by great people, drenched and being intoxicated does not begin to describe it... The first day was an early start with a breakfast Heineken tower and ended on the other side of town breaking into a friends apartment. The second, started again with the Heineken tower and sleeping in the hotel with dripping wet clothes just out of the pool... Everything in between was swimming, 7/11 runs, meeting people and lots of fun. I lost my shoes, my ring, and common sense was not always with me either, but it was a holiday I would definitely want to redo. On the last day of Songkran we went to Koh Samet, a little detour for me since thats where I spent Christmas, but it was great to spend a couple more days with those I met at Songkran and to recover. South bound once again. No pics can be posted for obvious reason. Nothing electronic would have survived 10 seconds on the street. YouTube would be glad to show you a glimpse for those interested.
