After a 14 hour night train, I arrived in Bangkok to see the sunrise. Noisy, chaotic and alive, just how I had imagined it, just maybe not that early in the morning. As I will be going through Bangkok a few times on this trip, I decided it would be best to pace myself and visit one district as a time. First stop, Banglamphu. Crowded with tourist the 'soi's lined up with guesthouses, bars and cheap food stalls it was quite easy to get comfortable. I spent my time visiting the markets, drinking copious amount of Thai iced coffee and eating all kinds of curries. The food here I must say is much better then Malaysia. After a FULL day of sleeping the next two days I visited Wat Pho, Wat Phra Kaew and the Grand Palace. The former royal residence, grand palace was beyond impressive, the pictures will explain better then I could. Within the grand palace was Wat Phra Kaew, the home of the emerald Buddha, which I could not take a picture of as it was not allowed but in sure google will have something for those interested. Definitely smaller then I expected, but beautiful. My one complaint, the people. I have never been so crowded in my life, even at an amusement park on a Saturday afternoon. It really took the charm out of it, I could only stay for one hour... Wat Pho, the oldest temple in Bangkok was less crowed and just as impressive, just on a smaller scale. It is also has the country's largest reclining Buddha, 46m long and 15 m high. After a few Chang beers and a nap at the train station I was on my way to the Cambodian border Poipet.
