After two motorbikes, a minivan, a bus, a ferry and a pick up truck, I made it to my Christmas destination, Ko Samet. This island west of Bangkok is lined with beaches to the east and west, the further away you go from the port, the quieter they get. The sand is white, accommodation just meters from the beach and finally, waves! This island is a popular vacation spot for expats, Russians and Thais from Bangkok and with it being the holidays, everyone was here. I met a great group of lovely people on my first night and hung out with them right until boarding the ferry off the island. Hopefully will be meeting up with some in the near future. Christmas was low key, just how I like it.. but there was still a lot of Christmas music, lights and people in Santa hats. I treated myself to a western breakfast and spent the day floating/ paddling on an inner tube on the ocean to a lighthouse to enjoy the open water view, watching the waves break, occasionally getting hit with one in the face when you weren't paying attention. After an afternoon nap, a BBQ gathering and a few drinks, Christmas was over and so was my time on the island. The next day, my mission was to try to get to Sukothai... The cover pic was My Christmas morning, the only pic I got of Ko Samet.
