June 25, 2014--day 10 of our European adventure
We arrived in Mykonos this morning! It was very hot already in the morning when we left for our tour! We traveled by bus to the other side of the island on very narrow streets! At one point we were passing a minivan & the driver of the minivan had to bend his mirror in so we didn't hit it!! We traveled to a beach & I got to wade in the Aegean sea which felt nice & cool! We also saw the island of Delos which is the birthplace of the twin Gods Apollo & Artemis on our way to the beach! We then traveled to a beautiful monastery which was built in 1542. We returned to the maze of streets in the town of Mykonos to continue our tour however this was the walking part of our tour so it was extremely hot by now! Several people discontinued the excursion at this point due to the long walk & heat of the day! We walked through the winding streets past several little shops until we arrived at little Venice! We saw the windmills here however there wasn't a breeze so they weren't moving! We continued our excursion for a little longer & then we had the rest of the day to do whatever we wanted! We did some more shopping & stopped at a restaurant where we got some smoothies & used their wifi to publish our last blog! Caught the shuttle bus back to the port & I went up to the pool for a refreshing swim! (Yes Annie I'm going to have a great tan--farmers tan that is!!!!) We got ready for dinner--we had a free dinner at one of the specialty restaurants--so we chose the crown grill where we enjoyed some great steaks! After dinner we went to the vista lounge & listened to some big band music followed by a mentalist who did some amazing things! Then we went to the princess theater to see "beatlemania". These 4 guys did a great job singing several of the Beatles songs! All in all we had a great day!
James here - the windmills weren't working though because all that was left of the blades were the sticks. I continue to be amazed at how clear and blue the water is. I forgot my swim trunks and so I was going to go skinny dipping - which is encouraged :) but after being on a cruise for a week and my condition before, it would have been classified as - chubby overweight dipping- which is highly DISCOURAGED! save the whales foundation was standing by with their eye on me prepared to drag me out to sea if I had tried to remove any of my clothes. So I remained hot and dry. Oh, and your comments about that? Imagine me waving my hands with my thumbs in my ears sticking my tongue and making that motorboat sound with my tongue. That is right - international razberrys! So I leave you with an excuse that works at anytime 24-7 on a cruise ship- Got to go now it is time to eat! Love ya!
