Buckets, beaches and bikes!
Welcome to the party island and home to the infamous full moon party! However I discovered that there is far more to this island than the party scene. There are beautiful beaches, waterfalls, temples and much more.
I hit the island in time for the half moon party rather than the full moon so I stayed in the area of baan tai rather than hat rin. I stayed in an amazing hostel called Hard Road Cafe (not to be confused with hard rock). It is run by a group of really cool French guys and has all the facilities and comforts you'd expect from a mid to high range hostel however it was only 150 baht a night (around £3) so an absolute bargain!!! They had a pool, a nice restaurant, table tennis and organised amazing pre drinks before all the parties :)! However for food I have to recommend an amazing Thai restaurant just up the road towards the 7 eleven petrol station. There are two pastel coloured places and you want the first one called a simple life. The family who run it are so cute and all Thai meals are £1!!! Plus amazing fruit shake for less than 50p. We went every day for breakfast lunch and dinner.
So my three days on the island were spent doing a mix of relaxing and exploring. One day the boys and I rented bikes and went in search of waterfalls and a beautiful beach named salad beach. Sadly due to it being dry season and around 40 degrees the waterfalls had dried up. However after a little navigating and luck we actually found salad beach and did some snorkelling. Hands down one of the most amazing reefs I've seen. It has a really cool drop off too not too far from shore. I saw angel fish, barracuda and huge electric blue fish?!
But soon enough it was the night of the half moon party! It takes place in the jungle as opposed to the beach and costs 600 baht to get in. A little pricey but so worth it as it is an actual club but in the jungle!!! We all got ready at the hostel. We had beer pong tournaments, got UV painted up and pre drank before we left. Once there it was a mind blowing array of colour, lights and music! The club had different levels, water fountains and huge UV sculptures all around. It was safe to say I partied until the early hours, not forgetting my food fix from the long lines of vendors on our way out. An amazing night! So glad I decided to come down here! Cheers boys for convincing me! Now for a sad farewell to my amazing koh Tao diving crew :(. And an equally sad goodbye to the Islands. It has been a great couple of weeks. But now I must head up north...
