We were on the road at our usual time, 8am heading to Del Rio for the night. We were fortunate that our route took us back through Big Bend National Park. We loved the sunsets, but the morning haze softened Big Bend's demeanor empowering nature to slowly wake to it's own tempo.
The traffic was really light. We made good time getting to Del Rio which was a good thing. The second good thing, Del Rio was a fairly big town. It even had a Walmart! We had to "go in". There is something about the comfort of going into a Walmart. It is like going home:) We even had lunch at Walmart with all the "Wallies". Our term for the people that frequent Walmart...including us.
Another good thing about Del Rio, because of the proximity to Amistad Recreational area, it services a lot of RVs meaning that we could find an RV Repair place that might know why certain things weren't working. Yes, we were having issues with a few electrical things. Like why didn't the gas kick on for the refrigerator when we stopped. It use to. Or why wouln't the Generator turn on whithout having to start the motorhome. It use to. Or why won't the pilot light engage for the water heater when you flip the switch. It use to. We did find a place, but he couldn't get to us until next week. And Walter and Barb also had an "issue" with their electrical plug. We are only in our second week....
Well, we decided to call the manufacture to see if they knew what might be the issue. After running through the issues, Ron, the Tech guy, asked if the House battery was charged. Sure it was. The panel reflected a full charge when it is plugged in. Ron suggested that we disconnect the power and then see what the panel says...nothing. He also asked when was the last time distilled water was added...never. Fubar for Bob. So we drove to the neighborly Auto Zone store and bought a new battery. Tomorrow, we will make sure we have distilled water onboard. Sure enough, the refrigerator and Generator are working as they should be. However, we still can't get the pilot light to fire for the water heater. If you have any ideas, let us know.
After our nightly game of cards, Walt and Barb served up a delicious BBQ Flank steak and grilled asparagus followed by bowl of ice cream for the boys.
Tommorrow we will be on the road by 7am for the long drive to South Padre Island to learn all about turtles.
