My Travels In America
Hi Everyone,
How is everything back home? It\'s pretty busy here as usual, but we only have 3 days before this session finishes and we get a new group of campers. I'm actually quite sad because this session has been so much fun and the girls in my cabin are great!
Every bed (12) in my cabin is full and there's never enough time in the shower (1) but the girls are so funny and because they are 14, you can have a proper conversation with them. We\'ve had 2 storms recently and so we've had to go into hibernation (where we stay in our cabins) and my cabin loves hibernation, including myself and Krissy. We shut all the curtains, turn the lights off and block the door so nobody can get in and then we have girly chats and go to sleep! It sounds quite sad but we don't really get any other chance just to chill out.
We had a storm the other night, so our pool party was cancelled and instead we played the best game of dodgeball EVER in the rain!!!! There were kids throwing up, sprained ankles and everything...sounds a bit risky but it was so much fun!
We then had our pool party rescheduled for last night and that was really cool too. The kids had a treasure hunt where they had to collect pennies from the bottom of the pool for prizes and they did a splashing contest off the diving board...oh the hilarity of camp hee hee!
Cafe Horizons is still the best evening activity for us Brits cos we spend the night drinking pitchers of tea and eating biscuits, chilling and listening to music and tonight we have the dance. The theme is super heroes and villains and I'm gonna go as a ballerina/princess hero!?!
Last week, my day off was amazing because I requested over the weekend to change to a different night off and it was my first night out with them. We went to another chinese buffet for dinner and then we went to book into a motel and we decided whilst we had the money, we would book into a slightly more expensive one and have a bed each and next time, all cram together.
We got a bit drunk and then we went to Barnes and Noble across the road to get the new Harry Potter book at midnight hee hee! It was really fun cos they had the shop open before midnight and were doing Harry Potter temporary tatoos (I got three, including a wonky lightening scar across my head), face painting and colouring stuff for the kids.
We got our books quite quickly and then we went back to the motel to party some more.
The next morning, I got woken up at 6am by the motel alarm call set by my horrible friends in the room next door and i couldn\'t get back to sleep so I lay in bed for 5 hours, which was heaven! I haven\'t been in a bed that long since I got here and it was so nice to not have to get up until i wanted to, or at least until checkout time!
Then we all went to Mcdonalds for brunch and then to the cinema to see Charlie and the Chocalate Factory, which was hilarious! I found it so hard to stay awake because I had only had and hours sleep the night before but I was laughing so much that it kept me awake. We then did the usual Walmart trip before coming back to camp.
This week we\'re planning on going to DC cos the rest of the people on my day off haven\'t been yet and I\'m up for going again and hopefully I\'ll get to see some more sights!
Thank you so much for all the emails and letters I\'ve been sent, it\'s so nice to hear what\'s happening at home and I\'m sorry I\'m not always to quickest at replying. A massive shout out to Siobhan and Diana for my first care package, I was juping up and down in the dining hall cos I was so excited and I took the tea and biscuits to Cafe Horizons with me to share with the other Brits. Sorry I didn\'t get to speak to you on the phone Di, I\'ll hopefully get a chance to call again soon.
Love you and miss you all
Cary
