My Travels In America
Hi Everyone!
Sorry it has taken me so long to write another 'postcard' but things have been quite hectic recently. They have changed our schedules and so I have more to do during the day and less opportunity to go on the internet and communicate with everyone at home.
Washington DC was amazing and it was the most touristy thing I've done since I got here. Margie drove the car up to the main dining hall so we could pack up the car, just as the younger kids were leaving dinner and they were all saying "wow is that your car" and it felt pretty cool. I think driving to Washington was actually one of my favourite parts of the trip (how sad eh?!) cos we were driving through the mountains with the top down, our hands in the air (yep, Margies too) and the Backstreet Boys blasting out of the stereo...it was so fun. The rest of the counselors were squished into Jason's car and Margie and I were comfortably chilling in the Mercedes hee hee!
We went to Georgetown for dinner which was nice cos there are lots of boutique style shops and nice restaurants and we met up with Margie's friend and one of CJaye's friends too who live in DC.
Margie's family were so kind and her Mum made us so welcome. She told us to come back as often as we'd like and she printed little maps of DC for us to take...how sweet!
We didn't go to sleep until around 4am and then Margie came in at 7am and pulled the covers off us and telling us we were going in 20mins! We drove to the metro station and then took the metro to the main part of the city. We got off the metro at the Washinton Monument and then we walked to the White House. It was really cool to see the White House but you are quite far away from it.
We then walked to Union station that has a mall inside, and did some shopping and had some lunch in this massive food court underneath the mall. There was a Washington DC clothing store, so we all bought matching t-shirts and we've decorated them with the names and dates on the back of the tshirts.
We didn't have enough time to see any more sites that day cos we had to go back to Margie's house and then drive back to camp for 5.30 but it was so nice to actually see some touristy places.
Miss you and love you all
Lots of love
Cary
