Lencois is the REAL Brazil. We instantly loved it. It´s laid back, friendly and genuine, and is surrounded by the national park "Chapata diamonte". It´s brimming with waterfalls, pools and breathtaking treks. It was definitely time to get active and today we endured a 14km trek, without the advisory guide. We stayed in the Historic centre of Salvador - Pelourinho, which was more beautiful and colonial than we´d expected, albeit with a dark history of the slave trade. As a result Salvador has a strong African influence. This is evident in the nightly processions of drummers, the syle of the artwork, the street food and the women offering to braid your hair. Olinda is an exquisite small colonial town with cobbled streets, brightly coloured houses and plenty of churches.
