We stayed in the Historic centre of Salvador - Pelourinho, which was more beautiful and colonial than we´d expected, albeit with a dark history of the slave trade. As a result Salvador has a strong African influence. This is evident in the nightly processions of drummers, the syle of the artwork, the street food and the women offering to braid your hair. Olinda is an exquisite small colonial town with cobbled streets, brightly coloured houses and plenty of churches. After 20hrs travelling we were rewarded with a breath taking drive over deserted beaches and gigantic dunes to arrive at the paradisical oasis of Jericocoara.
