你好Ni hao (hello)
Already more than one month in Shanghai and I love it. Its true what they say. Time flies when you have fun!! I don't really feel like a tourist anymore so that is good, but the Chinese people are still staring at us like we are some aliens. It starts to be annoying.
I really like to read all the reactions. Also that some of you even write something in English. Now I'm even more motivated to write all my stories down. I also heard that there are some problems with reading English but I hope the problem is already solved so everyone can read my blog.
Last week not really much happened. I just studied a little bit and followed my Chinese classes. We checked the weather expectations and saw the weather would be great especially in the weekend. Around 20/ 25 degrees. So that was much better as all the cold and rain of the last weeks.
On Friday we are free so we went to Yunnan road because a friend of us recommended that street because there would be a lot of cheap shops. When we arrived we found out there where only a lot of barber shops. There were also a few dinner places but that was all. All Chinese where still wearing their winter jacket and we were walking around in a t-shirt. The weather was lovely. Around that street was also a shopping male so went to that shopping male. We went to the star bucks because Anouk wanted to have a coffee. We had dinner at a very nice restaurant. We ordered some small dishes. One of them was a very big dumpling with some kind off "soup" in it and crabmeat. We had no idea how to eat it so I just tried something but because off that all the "soup" came out (like you can see on the picture we made). Everyone was laughing at us so we felt pretty stupid. After a while one lady showed us that we had to sip. Anouk still had a straw from her frappuccino so we used that to eat/ drink the dumpling.
On Saturday we woke up late and I did a little bit studying and we did some shopping. At 17:00 our new friend Jenny would come to have dinner with us and to discuss our plans for Sunday. We met her in the school office when we asked her for some help to translate the Chinese. She heard us talking Dutch so she asked where we were from. When we told her that we are from Eindhoven, Fontys. She told us that she stayed in Fontys, Eindhoven last semester as exchange. Her English is pretty good so that is good because a lot of Chinese can't speak English that good. She helped us at then to arrange the internet. Because she knows the area over here she was willing to show us around and that is why we would sit together that night. We wanted to go to the French area in Shanghai and some other places on Sunday. She had checked the weather expectations for Sunday and saw it had changed to a big rain. So we cancelled our plans for Sunday. Although we had dinner together. We eat at a Korean restaurant. The food was very good and also not even expensive (We had to pay around 10,- euro for 3 persons so that is not much if you see what we had eaten.). Afterwards she showed us her room. She has a room with 3 other girls. They don't have a shower in their building so they need to go to another one if they want to take a shower. They also don't have any air conditioning in the rooms and the building. After that we went to our room just to chat a little bit. She showed us the website of the cinema and we made plans to go to the movies. She had already seen al English movies so Anouk and I would go together to Avatar. When we arrived at the cinema they told us that only the Chinese version was on for that night. They told us that on Sunday the English version was on again. So we went home very disappointed.
On Sunday we checked the booklets we had with us about China. We made some plans to travel around so probably I have a lot to write about in a couple of weeks. In the night we went back to the cinema. When we arrived we bought a ticket and they gave us some off that stupid glasses to watch a 3D movie. The movie started and we immediately found out that the movie was in Chinese. Although we didn't understand anything of the movie it was a beautiful movie. They already have the DVD of the avatar over here so we want to buy that one the know the story. I will also post some new pictures again so you can also see how beautiful the glasses where.
I received the pictures of Nanjing from Yue Ying so I will also post them.
I look forward to read all the reactions again.
Xx
