Been busy this week, Wyndham - Friday, interesting harbour. Stopped at a Grotto, clambered down a sheer cliff and swum in freezing waters.
Saw a second spot Molly Spring but decided against it as it was nearing happy hour and didn't want to miss out.
Have just had 2 days at El Questro, just off the Gibb River Road. It is a fabulous place - a cattle station that changed into a Wilderness park and accommodates the thousands of tourists that pass by each year. It is pristine wildness and guess what no flies and mosquito's. There is something for everyone and for all ages. Did a bit of 4 wheel driving, went up to a look out and on the way down, scared the pants off Mrs B. Told to stop screaming as we headed down a very steep hill. Had a sunset cruise up Chamberlain Gorge. Decided to do the wilderness tent thingy instead of dragging the caravan. It was quite enjoyable. We were rudely awoken by crows at 4.45am with FARK FARK FARK. Needless to say without a gun to shoot them all we had to get up. Were up breakfasted and raring to go at 8.00am. A first time for Mr B.
As it was so early I broached the idea of doing three gorge walks but got shouted down. Decided as it was cooler - 32 degrees we would brave 2 gorges. the Zebedee Springs walk - 1.7km it is almost tropical rain forest. The springs are a series of waterfalls and every pool was filled. Mr Backpacker in the second to top with his dreadies doing his abultions with a loofah put us off so we retreated without a dip. Moved onto Emma Gorge which we stopped in at the day before but it was too hot so we thought early morning might be the go. It 3.2km round trip but all big stones to clamber over 99% of the way. At the top end was a beautiful grotto with a pool, freezing cold water again. The going was so rough that Fryze blew out his sneakers, the sole fell off in three sections which limited his performance.
Clambered back down the gorge and was heard to say thank god we didn't do 3 gorges as it nearly killed us.
On the way back we passed Molly Springs and as we would not be passing again decided to stop in. Not to be left out and defeated we decided to go to it. Beautiful springs and the two ladies had a dip and cool off.
Got back to camp where Mrs M had made the weary travellers Hamburgers, everyone is now in bed - totally stuffed.
By the way its as hot as hell - eat your hearts out southerners.
