Have just realised all the blogs done in the past week and odd ones during the trip are all sitting in draft. Something like gremlins been not posting them. Faulty range service or the like.
Left Broome and stayed at 80 mile beach. Love that spot. Stunning beach all 80 mile of ot but we only drove 5km up the beach.
Had a drive around Pt Hedland on the way into Karijini. Still the same mining town. Stopped at a station called Indee Station. They took us on a tour and showed alll the train lines that the mining companies have put through their property. 3 lines within 500 metres of each other. BHP. FMG (Twiggy Forest) and Roy Hill ( Gina Reinhart) all go ointo Pt Hedland. Seems stupid all building a 14 million $ railine and not sharing. Apparently they all hate each other. Gina is even building her own port.
Karijin was wonderful. Freezing. Days were windy except in th e gorges. But nights were freezing, we were huddled around 3 gas heaters as there is no fores allowed. I had to get out the down quilts again and all the thermals, we had 3 layers of thermals on each night.
As usual stunning gorges. I climbed down and walked them all. Gave up on the last 2 as they were quite deep, water up to my crutch and decided it wasn't worth a dunking. Brad sat and waited so I fiollowed some backpackers but when the one in front fell in and went totally under water, 8 ft deep I said not. I was carrying a camera (brad's ) so didn't want to incur his wrath.
Doc and Jenny and the Couthards did the first day gorge and look outs at the rest. Doc said to Brad as they were deep breathing after a steep bit, thank god she's not 20 years younger you wouldn't be able to catch her.
Can't believe the grey nomads. We spent last night in a free camp beside the racecourse in Hedland. 200 vans. They compalin about free camps but there is no caravan park that could hold them all in Hedland. They were booked out at 8.00am with people waiting since 7.00am
Just had a boring drive from Pt Hedland to Karratha. Booked in at some special spot all th e blogs rave about - Pt Samson. Nothing special we could see. and all they gave us was a road way in front of reception as they were full even though we booked at 9.00am, so for $49 we said no thanks, so we kept on to here.
Mr B lost a lug out of his new tyre so we are taking it in tomorrow for a wheel alignment rotate and see if they will replace it.
