Well, it's official.
I am absolutely exhausted.
But fun exhausted.
Did you know that the part of your brain that tells you to be careful with your money REALLY switches off when you are plum tuckered out?
Especially when the money is Swiss Francs and you can't use it tomorrow?
And it looks like 'play money'?
Well, it does
And it did
And I got rid of all the 'play money'.... And then some.
Had an AMAZING day.
Up at 6.45am to get to the vehicular railway to go half way up Mt Stanserhorn at 8am.
Totally fogged in in Lucerne but Calvin had a friend already with a group up the mountain and he said it was crystal clear up there.
So we shivered ourselves warm arriving at the railway station.
Cute little train up to the Cabrio Cable Car....going up through mist.
Then onto the most amazing 2 storey cable car...the upper deck is total open.
And I went on the top deck, in front, standing staring down 6300 ft....both on the way up ....and on the way down....
LOVED IT!
Absolutely incredible views.
Then, up the top of the mountain...crystal clear day...and lovely and warm in the sun!
360 degree views.
Snow capped mountains.
Above the clouds.
The farm houses below looked like Monopoly houses.
And you could hear the cow bells as the cows grazed below.
Absolutely breathtaking.
We had over an hour up there to just stand and soak it all in.
Huge cafe complex up there and wonderful vistas every direction you looked.
Such a highlight.
Then back down the mountain.
Wheeeeeeeee.....
Onto a large boat for a cruise of Lake Lucerne.
We always have these boats to ourselves so it is always great fun.
Well, the fog hadn't lifted in Lucerne and it was freezing on the open top deck but half a dozen of us stuck it out.
Michelle and Brett being two of them....they are the 2 with the caravan at Seaview.
Brett is a pastor...and fantastic fun.
Michelle is just lovely and hysterical to be around.
Calvin is saying the incredible weather we have had for the entire trip is due to Brett's connections and wants to book him for future trips.
Then all day from noon...free time in Lucerne.
That's why I am bushed.
I walked everywhere ...twice.
Went back to the Lion Monument to gaze.
Loved it.
Actually went back there 3 times....to get the different aspects in different light.
And because I loved it.
Found The Balances Hotel, Mum and Dad.
Waved at the corner rooms with balconies.
Could just see you both there 30 years ago.
What a fantastic hotel...and your view from that room!!!!!!
I took lots and lots of photos for you.
Walked the Chapel Bridge...fascinating.
It was destroyed by fire several years ago though...so this is the replica they built to replace it.
A lot of the paintings were lost in that fire....but some of them were salvaged and are on the bridge.
Loved the flowers... And the view back from the bridge to The Balances!
Walked the lakeside.
Walked the shops.
Checked out fascinating church.
Had a wonderful chat to lots of shopkeepers...especially one lady in an amazing antique shop...fascinating...just couldn't move in there.
Then , after saying another hello to the lion....dinner at 7.30pm....and now up here.
Wonderful day.
Love Lucerne.
Forgot to say...fog cleared towards the end of our lake cruise (thanks, Brett)...
A sunny 24 degrees....so...
Hot
Tired
And poor.
(Well....only Swiss Francs poor....)
Got lots of the other stuff left.
Tomorrow , Rhine Falls.
Third last day.
Great to talk to you, Emily and Mum and Dad.
Great to talk to you from the mountain top!!!!
Xxx

UPDATE
Meagan ran into... Literally ...David Tennant... On the street in London....
Took photos for me.
Thanks Megs!
So not fair.
Said he's lovely!
How was the accent, Megs?
However, does prove he can move in time and space.
After all I have photographic evidence that The Doctor is in Lucerne with me.

Katrina Hi Carolyn, I am loving reading your blog. You will need to come to Hawaii with us just to write our blog. Your photos and commentary are brilliant I feel like I am travelling with you.Lots of fascinating news here (you told me you wanted to be kept up to date) Gary Ablett won the Brownlow and there were lots of shocking frocks on the red carpet.Stay safe and keep blogging.
Katrina Wow this place looks gorgeous, I imagine lace doyleys and cake plates with little sandwiches and pastries.
