Hello.
Well, here I am on board The Glacier Express.
Don't worry.
I will be looking out the windows.
It is only 9.35 am.
( I'm early. Yep.)
The train doesn't leave until 10.02am.
We are still at the station.
And yes, being me, I checked the station board, the train flashing board and I asked a porter!
I'm on the right train.
There was no one on this carriage when I got on.
It is filling fast.
I think it is the only First Class carriage on this one.
We got underway right on the dot of 10.02am.
The carriage was 3/4 full.
I was lucky enough to have a lovely man sit opposite me.
His name was Gaudenz and he is 74.
( They have already planned to spend 2 weeks in Florence next May to celebrate his 75th birthday.)
Gaudenz was a teacher and then worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
He has travelled a lot but grew up around this area of Switzerland.
As we passed through Bergun, he said how he used to teach there and the children would ski down to school.
He taught 6 grades all in the one room and loved it.
Heidi was also filmed in that area.
( Hope I've got all that right, Gaudenz!)
Now ... remember that hat?
The one that cost me a fortune in St Moritz?
It was worth it's weight in gold when the sun came out on the train.
( I probably wore it 6 times!)
But now I love it.... it has 'history.'
But, the funny thing was, Gaudenz decided to buy a hat from the souvenir trolley after seeing how effective mine was.
We think he wore his 3 times.
He decided it just might have to be a good 'golf' hat.
It was wonderful to travel The Glacier Express with such a wonderful guide.
He told me when the good photo opportunities were coming up and a lot about so many areas.
The scenery was magnificent and so changeable.
I think it's best that I just post the photos.
Lunch was lovely on the train.
And, although it was overcast to start with, it cleared up beautifully.
People chatted quite a bit in the carriage and moved about to get good photos.
I thought of you and Dad often, Mum ... Doing the same trip and loving it!
Rather nice to follow in your footsteps.
It was just outstanding.
I loved it.
Would actually just sit back and do it again, soaking it all in.
Said goodbye to Gaudenz at Brig.
Arrived at Zermatt and very easy to find the hotel.
Great day.
Many thanks to my travel companion!
He's the one with the 'other' red hat.

M How nice that you met Gaudenz. I loved his matching red hat. Lol, that hat is influencing others. You're so funny! You love it because it has 'history'. I'm so glad your enjoying the train. After seeing all the photo's, it's certainly a vivid journey. It's easy to see why people travel that way.
