Woke at 6am.
Up and at 'em.
Walked the Riva!
Photos ...
Will write tonight.
Just had breakfast.
Three times.
I'm fuelling up!
Off to find the Tower and the Temple of Jupiter!
OK back again.
I am sitting on one of those magnificent white seats that line the Riva.
I found the Temple of Jupiter.
It was 50 steps behind the hotel.
Emily, go back and read about the cake ... from Amanda ... on the plane.
That was fun.
And I gather the emails were going back and forth organising chocolates and wine for me!!!!!!
I loved it.
The cake was delicious, by the way Amanda.
Haven't eaten it all yet.
And squashed didn't affect the taste one bit.
Also, found the fridge, in the wardrobe.
Missed that entirely last night.
Andrew ... Yep we parked at the end and walked along by the water until we turned right amongst the old walls and started weaving along the narrow streets to my hotel.
All part of the experience, isn't it?
It's 4.30 pm.
( Andrew, most of this is for you because you can see everything I am talking about!)
Sitting and relaxing on one of those white seats.
One of those seats right in front of the water.
You probably sat on it.
( I looked for a sticky note or an 'Andrew was here' .... Nope, nothing.)
If you cast your mind back, you might think I have a fixation with seats.
Captain Jack's seat.
Now Andrew's seat.
That'll do I think.
Anyway ...
Magnificent place!
Had a wonderful day.
Took it fairly slowly.
After checking out Jupiter's Temple this morning.
Sitting and gazing.
Beautiful morning.
Absolutely no one there.
Not even the ticket sales people as it turns out.
They weren't up.
So decided that sitting and gazing was amazing anyway and decided to do all the activities tomorrow after I get the ticket.
So I can ...
Climb the Bell Tower
Visit the Cathedral
The Crypt
And the Baptistry.
Then, funnily enough, I headed back to my room for a nap.
Nope.
That didn't take.
So up again at 9.30am and out the door.
And I wandered.
It was so relaxing.
Talked to lovely people.
Found the wonderful round building with the round hole in the roof.
Took that photo.
Not quite as good as the Internet one.
I think they climbed a ladder for that one.
Wandered 2 markets.
One underground.
Then I caught sight of myself in black leggings.
I am never wearing those again.
So I went shopping.
Had a Julia Roberts/Pretty Woman moment when the 2 girls in the shop took one look at me ( in those ugly leggings) and graciously were looking for the word in English to describe the items in their shop.
I supplied the word 'exclusive' and they thought that fitted.
And since I could see their point, we had a lovely chat and laughed a lot.
Found a jeans shop. Bought a great pair of jeans.
( You know, I've only got 57 pairs of jeans at home ... )
No jewellery, Emily. You'll be pleased to know.
Though, yes Amanda. I've found most of them.
Wandered ruins, shops, waterfront.
Back to the room.
Back out again.
And repeat.
Absolutely amazing to be so close to everything.
Queued for a ticket for the Bell Tower, etc.
Yep ...
Queued.
No queue when I was there this morning.
Bought the ticket at the Cathedral.
Asked if it was OK to use it for tomorrow.
I was assured it was.
Dark clouds formed for about an hour this afternoon. A few heavy drops as I wandered.
Still nice and warm though.
Funny to watch the umbrellas go up in unison with all the tour groups.
Planning a fairly early night.
Let's see what happens.
Well ....
This is what's happening.
It's 8pm.
I am sitting at a restaurant, Brasserie on Seven.
( Yes ... sitting.)
About to eat dinner.
Watching and listening to a band playing live on a yacht that's just pulled in and moored.
A very big crowd has gathered and several very pretty young girls have been encouraged on board and are dancing and occasionally doing back up singing.
It looks and sounds amazing!
Dinner
Absolutely delicious.
No problem to walk anywhere here, Mum.
A lot of people but not crowded.
There are lots of families eating and wandering about.
Young ones.
Couples.
Grandparents.
Little children.
Dogs.
It 's just a wonderful place to wander.
The band?
Literally, sailed off into the sunset.
Amazing place.

M Wow mum. The photos are amazing! I can't believe all that on only minimal sleep. I believe tired must suit you if you end up 'sitting' as much as you did in this blog. A relaxing holiday... I didn't know you knew what that meant. Boy did I pick the wrong trip to miss out on. Love the short shot from the underground!
