...it's cloudy but some sun is expected in the afternoon
...we decide to explore Harlem this time, starting with the amazing and monumental cathedral of St. John the Divine and ending with a locally famous Levain Bakery for the most chocolaty and peanut buttery chocolate chip cookies ever! Raspberry roll is only so-so though.
...we walk around Midtown, feast our eyes on the neons of Times Square twice, stumble upon the NYC public library (unfortunately the main reading room that we all know from crime movies is closed for restoration this year) and attempt to go to the observation deck at Empire State Building; unfortunately – yes, you guessed it – I still have my knife on me and we cannot find a ready place to hide it so we pass...
...we enjoy sunset at... Times Square again
...we taste the world famous frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity 3 in Upper West Side; pricey at $11 but really delicious. No wonder Jackie O. wanted (but didn't obtain) the recipe...
...our feet are sore from all the walking and yet the night isn't over – my metro card and – what's worse – the apartment keys are nowhere to be found; it appears they have been stolen from my pocket sometime during the day...We notify our host, who's in Chicago, but he's there to answer our call and directs us to his aunt's apartment to pick up a backup set
...inadvertently and unexpectedly we find ourselves in Queens, which is where the aunt lives; the way there is long but good. The return is scary with a crazy hobo on the subway shouting obscenities and threatening to kill all you a******s and motherf***ers., scaring all the innocent passengers...Ah well....
...we make it back by 1am and fall asleep happy though exhausted
