...we pick up all our online deliveries, shop for groceries (marveling at the choice of fattening and life-threatening snacks in even the smallest of stores), make breakfast and head out exploring
...we visit the Statue of Liberty (shamelessly cutting in the line, which would normally have taken 1 hour), Times Square, Wall Street, Trinity Church, Freedom Tower, Chinatown and some other minor places, taking advantage of the only sunny day of our stay in NYC. And oh, we shop a little at A&F. Yeah, it is a full day. NYC is just as huge, noisy and thrilling as I remembered but not quite as daunting as before.
...we taste different Jewish and other snacks of NYC, such as bagels, doughnuts, knishes and other stuff, to conclude most of them are overrated and we are left craving for a burger
...we find out that the 30 minute security line for the Freedom Tower does not guarantee security at all – they don't find a pocket Gerber knife I took with me by accident; the view, however, is amazing
...we realize that the knife is going to be a problem for the Statue of Liberty security check and pretty much anything else on the itinerary so I hide it in the barrel of a cannon in Castle Clinton (Battery Park). To my surprise it's still there when we come back from Liberty Island but we can only see it through a barred window, we can't touch it, the castle is closed. Oh well, tomorrow.
...we catch my birthday present on Broadway – the Chicago musical that my beautiful gf got us tickets for. Leg space is scarce and the theater – crowded but the experience is truly magical, even though I doze on and off due to jet lag.
...we come back to Harlem exhausted but happy!
