Today was a lazy day for us, we simply wandered aimlessly around the city by train on a 24 hour ticket that cost us €4 each.
It was so good to not be in a hurry or to see anything in particular. We did however check out the transportation after we land back in Athens from Israel. We will catch the Metro from the airport into the city to Larissa Station and then hop on the train bound for Patra about 3 hours away. Which will give us oodles of time as the ferry leaves late at night and we arrive back from Israel quite early in the morning.
After this we stumbled on a local supermarket, very big, with almost everything you want. We cannot get over how cheap food is here, but I think, whatever happens tomorrow at the elections everything is about to get much much dearer. We have spoken to a few people and there is a feeling that the good times of the past are just about over.
Just idling around we (Jean) still managed to get a few bargains! ;)
As the day got on we discovered Maccas! The golden arches, and Yes we needed a pit stop badly, but soon discovered that you needed the barcode number from your receipt to open the loo door, so we dropped a couple of Euros for cold drinks and spring rolls(!) and used the loo.
Finally back to the motel for a sleep, Jean is resting now, and a late diner about 8 pm on the rooftop garden restaurant at the motel.
Tomorrow morning we leave here about 7:30am for the airport an board an Olympic Air flight bound for Tel Aviv and our 8 day tour; very, very, very excited!
Our next blog will be from Jerusalem! City of David!
